Cerai talaq in the Federal Territories: one court, three territories
Wherever your case sits, in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya or Labuan, the same court hears it. Cerai talaq here means your husband applies to the Mahkamah Syariah Wilayah Persekutuan (MSWP) for permission to pronounce talaq, under section 47 of Act 303.[1]
There is no separate district court to work out first, unlike a state such as Selangor. A Putrajaya or Labuan case is handled at its own branch, not the Kuala Lumpur counter at Jalan Sri Hartamas.[1]
The Fast Track, when you both agree
A mutual-consent talaq is exactly the case MSWP’s Fast Track was built for. When you and your husband attend together with complete documents and genuinely agree to part, the court can issue a written order in under six hours from registration.[2]
This route still sits under section 47, the same provision used for an ordinary application, just resolved faster once the court is satisfied the agreement is real.[2] If your husband refuses to pronounce talaq at all, the Fast Track does not apply. What to prepare, and where next
Bring your marriage certificate, identification, and a short account of why the marriage cannot continue. If children are involved, bring their birth certificates too, in case related claims come up at the same hearing.

Common questions
Does the Fast Track work for cerai talaq specifically, or only other divorce types?
It works for cerai talaq when both spouses agree the marriage has ended. Your husband still applies for permission to pronounce talaq, but if MSWP is satisfied the consent is genuine and your documents are complete, it can issue a written order in under six hours instead of the standard timeline.
My marriage was registered in Putrajaya. Do I file in Kuala Lumpur?
No. Putrajaya has its own MSWP branch, separate from the Kuala Lumpur seat at Jalan Sri Hartamas. File where your case belongs, usually where you live or where the marriage was registered, and Putrajaya cases are handled at the Putrajaya branch.
My husband will not apply for the Fast Track. What now?
The Fast Track only applies when both of you genuinely agree. If he refuses to cooperate at all, your case follows the standard cerai talaq route, or you may have grounds for fasakh instead, which does not need his consent.
