How is Syariah divorce handled in Pahang?
Syariah divorce in Pahang is handled under the Enakmen Undang-Undang Keluarga Islam 2005 (Pahang), and cases are heard under the Jabatan Kehakiman Syariah Pahang (JKSP).[1]
Most states run a single Mahkamah Tinggi Syariah. Pahang runs three.
Which seat hears your case: Kuantan, Temerloh or Bentong?
Pahang’s Mahkamah Tinggi Syariah sits in three places. The Kuantan seat serves Kuantan, Pekan, Rompin and Muadzam Shah. The Temerloh seat serves Maran, Temerloh, Bera and Jerantut. The Bentong seat serves Bentong, Raub, Lipis and Cameron Highlands.[2]
This matters because it decides where your case is filed and heard, not just which town is nearest to you. Mahkamah Rendah Syariah sit at Kompleks Syariah Al-Sultan Abdullah in Bandar Indera Mahkota (Kuantan), in Pekan, and on Jalan Tok Muda Awang Ngah in Temerloh.[2]

Which divorce route applies to you?
Pahang hears the same routes as other states, under its own enactment and section numbers. If your husband has disappeared or stopped supporting you, fasakh may fit. If he broke a taklik promise made at your marriage, cerai taklik may apply. If he is willing to pronounce the divorce himself, that route runs through cerai talaq.
What happens after you file?
Most cases start with a Sulh session, where an officer tries to help both sides settle. If there is no settlement, the case moves to a hearing, and the court decides based on the evidence and route you used.
Once your divorce is recorded, you can raise related claims, such as maintenance, custody or division of property, in the same court.
How much does filing cost?
Cost depends on your route, whether the case is contested, and how much evidence and paperwork are involved. There is no single fee that applies to every case in Pahang.

Pahang’s three-seat structure, in your favour
Because Pahang splits its High Court work between Kuantan, Temerloh and Bentong, cases from across the state do not all funnel through one building. If you live nearer Temerloh, Maran, Bera or Jerantut, that court seat is usually the relevant one for your case, and if you live nearer Bentong, Raub, Lipis or Cameron Highlands, the Bentong seat applies instead.

Common questions
My case is closer to Temerloh than Kuantan. Does that change anything?
Yes. Pahang's Mahkamah Tinggi Syariah has three seats. The Temerloh seat covers Maran, Temerloh, Bera and Jerantut, Kuantan covers Kuantan, Pekan, Rompin and Muadzam Shah, and Bentong covers Bentong, Raub, Lipis and Cameron Highlands. Filing at the seat that covers your district avoids delay, so check which one applies to you before you file.
Is there a Mahkamah Rendah Syariah near Pekan?
Yes, Pekan has its own Mahkamah Rendah Syariah, separate from the Kuantan and Temerloh high court seats. It handles cases at the subordinate level for that district, and you can confirm current opening hours and contact details through JKSP.
Does Pahang's multi-seat system slow the process down?
Not by design. Each seat runs its own Sulh sessions and hearings for the districts it covers, so a case filed at the correct seat should move through the same steps as anywhere else. The bigger risk is filing at the wrong seat and needing to correct it.
