Choosing your Syariah divorce route
Every marriage ends in its own way. Start with the route that matches your story.
Syariah courts in Malaysia recognise several ways to end a marriage. If your husband agrees, talaq or divorce by consent is usually the quickest. If he refuses or has disappeared, a wife can apply for fasakh or taklik divorce on specific grounds.
Khuluk lets a wife seek release in return for an agreed payment. Every route begins at the Syariah Subordinate Court in your state, and most pass through sulh (mediation) or hakam before a ruling.
