How JKSNJ’s Unit Sulh works
JKSNJ runs its own Unit Sulh, and when both sides reach agreement, the judge records it as a court order without a full trial.[2] This means your case can close faster than waiting for a hearing date.
If no agreement is reached, your case proceeds to a hearing as usual, without affecting your right to present evidence.
Your Sulh session at your district court
Johor runs a Mahkamah Rendah Syariah in nine districts: Johor Bahru, Muar, Batu Pahat, Mersing, Kluang, Segamat, Pontian, Kota Tinggi and Tangkak.[3] Your Sulh session takes place at the district court your case is registered in, not necessarily Johor Bahru.
A claim registered in Muar, for example, goes through Unit Sulh at the Muar court itself, with a Sulh Officer serving that district.
What happens during the session
A Sulh Officer explains the process, then hears both sides together before speaking with each side privately. Afterward, both sides are brought back together to see whether agreement can be reached.
Common claims raised include child maintenance, nafkah iddah, mut’ah, and jointly acquired property.
