Syariah Court Jurisdiction

Syariah Court jurisdiction decides which state court has authority to hear and decide your case, usually based on residence or where the marriage was registered.

This matters because the Syariah Court system is run at state level, not as one single federal system.

In real cases, jurisdiction questions often come up when a couple lives in a different state from where they married, or when one party moves after marriage.

Cases involving a marriage or divorce that happened overseas also need the right jurisdiction settled before they can be registered in Malaysia.
