Talak Dua: the second talaq, the last chance to reconcile

Talak dua is the second talaq between the same couple, after they reconciled from talak satu and then separated again. It is still talak raj’i, so reconciliation during iddah is still allowed.

For example, a couple reconciles after talak satu, but the husband later pronounces divorce again. That becomes talak dua. The wife enters iddah once more, and the husband can still reconcile within that period without a new marriage.

Talak dua matters because it is the last chance to reconcile. If the couple separates a third time after this, it becomes talak tiga, and reconciliation is no longer allowed without the cina buta process.
