Where is the Syariah court for Kuala Terengganu?

The Mahkamah Rendah Syariah Kuala Terengganu sits on Aras 2 and 3, Bangunan Mahkamah Syariah, Jalan Sultan Mohamad.^[1] The same building holds the Mahkamah Tinggi Syariah and the Jabatan Kehakiman Syariah Terengganu headquarters on its upper floors.

That means the subordinate court, the high court and the state department all sit under one roof, so a matter that needs to move up a level does not mean travelling anywhere else.

What makes Kuala Terengganu’s court different?

As the state capital, Kuala Terengganu carries a heavier caseload than any of Terengganu’s six other district courts. It is also the only court in the state that shares its building with both the high court and the department headquarters.

Residents of the surrounding coastal and urban areas within the district file here, while the six outlying districts each keep a separate Mahkamah Rendah Syariah closer to home.
