Perlis is the smallest state in the peninsula by land area, and its Syariah court system reflects that. There is no network of district courts to choose between. Every Sulh session, whatever your claim, is called at the same single unit. The notice you received did not select you into a branch office; it is simply where every Perlis case goes.

Where the session sits and which rules govern it

Perlis runs its own Unit Sulh under the Kaedah-Kaedah Tatacara Mal Mahkamah Syariah (Sulh) Perlis 2018.^[1] The unit operates from Darul Qada’ Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin on Persiaran Jubli Emas, Kangar. This is the same building that also houses the state’s Mahkamah Tinggi and Mahkamah Rendah Syariah.^[2]

Claims typically raised at a Perlis Sulh session

Harta sepencarian division, child maintenance, and iddah maintenance are the claims most often brought to Sulh here. Couples who have agreed to divorce but still need to settle the terms also come through this stage. A Sulh Officer opens with both parties present, then splits into separate rounds with each side to test where the gap actually is.

A settlement reached at this stage can be recorded straight into an order, skipping a full hearing entirely. Without one, the file simply continues to a hearing, still inside the same Darul Qada’ building.
