Sulh (a mediation session before a full trial)

Sulh is a mediation session run before a case goes to full trial at the Syariah Court, led by a Sulh Officer who is not the judge who will later decide the case.

A common case: a couple disputing nafkah anak is called to a sulh session first, and if both sides agree, that agreement can be recorded as a court order without a lengthy trial.

Sulh is not in Act 303 but is instead set out at state level, so its procedure differs slightly between states.
