Nusyuz (when a wife is found disobedient without reasonable cause)

Nusyuz describes a wife found disobedient to her husband without reasonable cause, for example refusing to live together without valid reason. If the court finds this proven, her right to maintenance can stop.

A common case: a husband who stopped paying maintenance accuses his wife of nusyuz for leaving the home, but if she can show she left because she was mistreated, that accusation is usually not accepted.
