Nafkah Iddah (a wife's maintenance during her iddah period)

Nafkah iddah is the maintenance a husband must pay his wife throughout her iddah period after divorce, as a continuation of his duty during the marriage.

A common case: a wife divorced by a first talaq and still within her three-month iddah can claim nafkah iddah if the husband does not pay voluntarily.

This claim falls away if the wife is proven to be in nusyuz, or ends once the iddah period is over.
