Kadi / Hakim Syarie

A Kadi, more formally a Hakim Syarie, is the officer who hears evidence and decides cases at the Syariah Court.

In a divorce case, the Hakim Syarie weighs the evidence, hears both sides, and approves or rejects applications such as fasakh or a maintenance claim.

In real cases, the Hakim Syarie can also direct a Sulh session first, before the case moves to a full trial.
