JKM (Social Welfare Department)

JKM, the Social Welfare Department, is the government department that handles family welfare, including cases involving children.

In disputed custody cases, the court sometimes asks JKM for a report to assess the actual situation of the child and family before deciding.

In real cases, a JKM officer may interview the parents and child, and visit the home, before preparing that report.

JKM also helps in cases involving a child’s safety or domestic violence.
