Iddah While Pregnant: the waiting period until delivery

Iddah while pregnant is the waiting period for a wife who is pregnant when she divorces or when her husband dies, and it continues until she gives birth.

This differs from an ordinary iddah counted by menstrual cycles or a number of months, because a pregnancy iddah depends entirely on the delivery date.^[1]

If the pregnancy takes a long time to reach term, the iddah period stretches along with it, with no fixed month limit.
