EPF/KWSP (for maintenance claims)

EPF, or KWSP, is Malaysia’s compulsory retirement savings scheme. In maintenance cases, it comes up when a husband fails to pay child maintenance the court has already ordered.

When arrears pile up, the court can issue enforcement orders against a husband’s assets or income, and his EPF savings can be reached as part of that process.^[1]

In practice, this usually happens after a wife has already filed for arrears and the husband still refuses or cannot pay directly. The Family Support Division (BSK) often helps carry out this enforcement.
